Chances getting into UC Berkeley?

Its tough, but doable. Cal currently has an acceptance rate of about 20%. Cal looks at both SAT scores and GPA. For example, if you have a lower gpa (say a 3.3), but a great SAT score -- it lets admission officers know you can work hard and have the intelligence too. Hence Cal asks for both. A high gpa alone will not necessarily get you admitted. As you can have a high gpa but so can 20,000 other applicants. You need extracurriculars, a bomb personal statement that showcases your heart, soul, tenacity, and talents. UCB is known for looking at the "whole applicant", rather than solely academia. Would this person contribute to Cal? In what way? Personal statement is weighed more at Cal than most major universities. You can do it! You have nothing to lose by applying. I wish you the best.
