Why does my dog steal the phone?

I can't believe people haven't asked this yet, but are you one of those people that pretty much keeps your phone glued to your ear? If so, he could be trying to hide it from you. I'm not suggesting he's jealous, of course, but dogs are smarter than we give them credit for and he might have learned to associate being ignored with your phone.
